Education and Networking Opportunities
FLCMAA Summer Conference Series
Each Summer, the Florida Chapter hosts a series of three SummerConferences in June, August and September. Our conferences are family friendly with ample time for professional development, networking and socializing. Full participation in all education programs can yield up to 15 education credits. While members participate in education sessions, spouses and families have the option to participate in planned social and educational opportunities. FLCMAA members truly benefit from the variety of opportunities available at the summer conferences and the many hands-on topics that can easily be put into practice back at their clubs.
Florida Mid-Management Tours
The Florida Chapter hosts two Mid-Management Tours in the Fall with motivational leadership speakers who travel to four locations throughout the state. This is an ideal opportunity for Mid-Management staff to participate in a high performance education program and network with area managers.
Future Leaders Education Program (FLEP)
The Future Leaders Education Program (FLEP) was designed as an education program focused on mid-level management in order to provide the valuable education to establish the culture and education for the next generation of active managers and leaders in CMAA. This ten (10) month program focuses on the 10 CMAA Core Competencies and includes 10 months of online and mentoring calls with FLCMAA managers with specific talents in the competency areas. For more details on the FLEP program, click here.
Florida Regional Education & Business Meetings
Each year, more than 100 hours of education events are held throughout the state at local monthly meetings in your area. Our Regional Education Chairs compile an outstanding slate of speakers and offerings and with our discounted Florida Education Club, we invite members to participate as often as their schedule allows.
CMAA’s World Conference on Club Management
The World Conference on Club Management is the Association’s most visible event of the year. Over the past several years, audiences of nearly 3,000 have attended CMAA’s Conference and Trade Show, which is held in major cities throughout the United States. Members benefit from the variety of opportunities available at the World Conference, which includes more than 90 education programs with hands-on advice that can be easily put into practice. CMAA takes great pride in its voluntary certification program. Since its inception in 1965, it has become recognized as the hospitality industry’s most respected certification program.
The Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation has been the hallmark of professionalism in club management since 1965 and is the cornerstone of CMAA’s member recognition program. It is a valuable and widely-respected mark of a manager’s commitment to professional development and the club industry.
The CCE designation was developed to recognize managers who have shown the ability to successfully serve as the most senior manager in a club. While the CCM designation is still the “hallmark of professionalism” within the club industry, the CCE designation is meant to augment the CCM designation, not replace it.
The MCM designation is a certification and recognition program for a special group of professionals who have made extraordinary and long-lasting contributions to the club industry.
CMAA’s Career Services Department provides the best assistance for members in need of new positions and for clubs in need of professional management. The department’s Web site, ClubCareers, provides online access to the best career counseling, job opportunity listings and employment services available in the club industry. Hiring Clubs are welcome to post open job opportunities for a fee of $100 on the Florida Chapter website.
The Association acknowledges its responsibility to assist college students in gaining a better understanding of the club management profession and in selecting a career in this sector of the hospitality industry. Both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in four-year hospitality management programs at accredited colleges or universities are eligible to apply for CMAA’s student membership classification. Florida currently has four student chapters at Florida GulfCoast University, Florida State University, Johnson & Wales University, Miami and University of Central Florida.
